Fire Prevention Assembly

Daniel Cooley and Josh Hinson from St. Clair Fire Protection District came to help our elementary students understand fire safety.  They spent time with the students explaining what a fire might sound like, feel like, and look like.  They explained how to keep yourself safe from a fire and during one should you get caught in one.  Students also saw the men in full fire gear.  Sometimes, young children will hide during a fire, and are often scared of the fire protection suit.  It is bulky and the breathing sounds can seem scary.  These students will know what a fire fighter will look like if they are in need of being rescued.  They also talked about the importance of having and practicing an escape plan at their homes just like they do at school.  If you would like to know more about fire safety in the home, check out this link from the American Red Cross.  Red Cross Fire Safety

Thank you for always keeping our students safe!
