Students Attend Summit on Digital Citizenship
On Monday, March 12, six of our 7th graders attended a digital citizenship summit. At this meeting, the students learned about the 9 aspects of digital citizenship and how they are responsible for using technology appropriately in regards to these elements. They were able to learn and plan with other middle school students from area schools. The 9 elements of Digital Citizenship are:
Access: full electronic participation in Society
Commerce: The electronic buying and selling of goods
Communication: the electronic exchange of information
Literacy: the process of teaching and learning about technology and the use of technology
Etiquette: the electronic standards of conduct or procedure
Law: the electronic responsibility for actions and deeds
Rights & Responsibilities: those requirements and freedoms extended to everyone in a digital world
Health & Wellness: physical and psychological well-being in a digital technology world
Security: the electronic precautions to guarantee safety
The students, Ryan M, Cole T, Gage W, Noell F, Katryna B, and Riley L, developed a plan and will be working with Ms. Britton to teach students at Lonedell about these aspects on using technology appropriately.
