District Earns Perfect Score on APR

Lonedell School District has again earned 100% on the Annual Performance Report, part of MSIP 5.  MSIP 5 is a tool used by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to measure five standards for Missouri Schools.  Academic Achievement, Subgroup Achievement, High School Readiness, Attendance, and Graduation are all measured.  Scores in these individual areas contribute to a total that makes up the APR score.  The district scored 32 out of 32 points for academic achievement, 10 out 10  for attendance, and 8 out of 8 in sub group achievement.  Subgroups include students who receive free and reduced meals, have disabilities, as well as other students.

The administration is very proud of this fourth year achieving 100% APR, however, we don't rely solely on these reports to indicate how we are performing.  Mrs. Ulrich reminds us that these scores are just a moment in time, not the end all be all.  "While MAP and APR are very important, and we are thrilled with how well our students perform, we know that it is a snapshot in time of their performance on a particular day," says Ulrich.  "It is used to serve as an accountability measure at the federal level.  Our teachers use data from ,assessments done in their classroom to really know how a student is doing.  Our district uses Evaluate as one of those assessment tools, and our teachers design assessments as well.  Based on student performance, our faculty will determine how instruction needs to be adjusted to meet the needs of their classroom.  There is much more to each of our students than a single assessment, and we have an amazing staff that adjusts what they do to help them excel each day."

As Ulrich stated, Evaluate is a program used in the classroom.  Each month throughout the year,  students take monthly assessments through Evaluate, which aligns its assessments with the Missouri standards.  Data from these assessments is analyzed by team teachers.  Students set goals based on their scores, and get very excited as they meet and top those goals.  In Mrs. Dunn's Middle School English Language Arts Classes, students can earn bonus points by meeting their goals.  "You'd be surprised how excited they get when they see those graphs pointing upward.  The bonus points are just an added benefit.  The real reward is intrinsic," stated Mrs. Dunn.

We are very proud of our students and staff and the work they put in each day.  Our staff members are always striving to better serve the students of our community.
