Hey Lonedell Families. We know you have been eager to hear our plans for learning and food service while the district is closed due to COVID-19. Our office staff has been working hard to get this plan lined out. We are happy to share the following:
Learning Packets are only for students in grades K-8. Wednesday, March 18, our bus service will be delivering a learning packet to students in the Lonedell School District.
Learning packets are meant to keep students active, learning, engaged and moving during this closure. Students are encouraged to work on the packet each day. They are designed to last through April 3.
If you do not get your learning packet on March 18, we will make arrangements for you to receive it.
We will post regular online enrichment for students who have access to the internet. This is a way to keep in touch with them on a positive basis, to the best of our ability. There will be lots of free resources.
FOOD SERVICE/LEARNING PACKETS 3/18
Busses will stop at each household. An individual can come out to the bus to collect meals and packets. As a requirement of Seamless Summer Meal Program, we must visually see each child that is receiving a meal each day. Children can come to the door, it is not necessary that they come to the bus. From the bus, we will pass out meals and learning packets.
There will be a brief survey to verify that learning packets were delivered, meals were deliver, determine if meal delivery should continue, or have additional meals delivered for students who are not in school. Those students must be seen by the delivery person as well.
STUDENTS IN WESTWOODS, SPRING MEADOWS, LAKE ARROWHEAD & LONEDELL LAKES
For Lake Arrowhead and Lonedell Lakes, we will be delivering learning packets and meals separately from the bus routes March 18-20 until we can communicate a more specific time of delivery by busses which will begin Monday, March 23.
We will meet students in Lake Arrowhead at the front entrance at 11:00 am.
We will meet students in Lake Arrowhead at the back entrance at 11:25 am.
We will meet student in Lonedell Lakes at the entrance at 12:10 pm.
Students in Westwoods and Spring Meadows will have meals delivered to their homes by busses.
We are utilizing the Seamless Summer Meal Program to provide free food for students in the Lonedell School District. In addition to the learning packets, our busses will deliver a lunch and the next day’s breakfast. Busses will leave the school at 10:45. We anticipate the route will take approximately 2 hours on the first day. Please watch for the bus between 10:50 am-1:00 pm. After Friday, we should have the timeframes tightened up to allow you a better estimate of your delivery time.
TYPE OF MEALS
March 18-20, students will receive a cold lunch and breakfast for the next day. Beginning March 23, students will receive a hot lunch and breakfast for the next day. The breakfast will not be what is served for a typical breakfast at school due to shelf life issues. It will be items such as bagels, muffins, etc.
Meals will vary based on supplies available. Children in the same household could get different meals.
We will continue the backpack program for students currently enrolled. Those packs will be delivered on Fridays with meals. We are not taking applications to join the backpack program at this time. However, if you have a specific need, please let your delivery person know. We will try to find a way to help.
