Off They Go

Students throughout our district took part in graduation ceremonies during the last days of school.  Eighth grade students were treated to a week of fun events, including a field trip to PineCrest where they fished, canoed, and spent the day together as a class for one last time.  Parents and staff provided a Carnival Day for the students as well, complete with bounce houses and cotton candy.

The evening of May 13, 28 young men and women gathered in front of staff, friends, and family to receive their diplomas.  The crowd was welcomed by Mrs. Ulrich, Superintendent who said these young people were, "ready to fly".  Nate P. held the flag while Lexie H. and Avery K. led the group in the National Anthem and Lonedell School Pledge.  A prayer was read by Abby G. and Justin T. and CJ P. and Chrysta A. read the class poem.  Awards were given for a variety of accomplishments including grades, involvement, and clubs.

Finally it was time for the individual recognition of Citizenship.  This student was chosen for her outstanding attitude, hard work, and willingness to befriend everyone.  Avery K. was honored with this award by Mrs. Vollmer.  Mrs. Brissette recognized the top five students who included Lanie D., CJ P., and Makayla J.  Salutatorian, Anna F. spoke to the group about memories and what she had learned.  She reminded her classmates that they were a family, even as they head to different high schools.  Valedictorian, Ryker W. spoke about how he had grown up at Lonedell and thank his friends for always being there for him.

Each student received a diploma from a Board of Education member, and were cheered as they turned their tassel under a rain of confetti.  We are so proud of the Class of 2017 and wish them the best in high school.

Kindergarten students walked the red carpet in a Ready Set Lead themed graduation on May 18.  The students sang songs for their proud friends and family.  Each student received their Kindergarten Diploma, while behind them a letter expressing thanks to someone special was shown. After receiving big hugs from Mrs. Smith or Mrs. Cox, they took their spot on the Walk of Fame. They sang one last song for the audience and headed out for popcorn and punch.  These students will come back as 1st graders next year.
