They Did It!

Congratulations to the Lonedell Graduating Class of 2023! As with every year, we are surprised how quickly the 8th graders make it to this monumentous occasion.  This class is no different.  On Tuesday, May 16, 28 of our Bobcats were honored by their family, friends, teachers, and staff during graduation.

The attendees were treated to a video presentation created by Mrs. Brissette, featuring the students throughout the year, as well as highlighting how they have grown with baby and current pictures.  After the presentation, graduates entered to the traditional Pomp and Circumstance donned in Lonedell blue and gold.  Jessi T. and Jonah S. led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.  The Lonedell band played the Star Spangled Banner, featuring 8th grade band members.

The group was welcomed by Principal, Shannon Banderman, who enjoyed her first graduation as a Bobcat.  Our Scholarship Committee announced 21 Scholarship recipients, totaling $18,000.  The honor choir sang Best Day of My Life, featuring 8th grade choir members.  Academic awards were given by 8th grade teachers including highest gpa, attendance, and honor students.

Mrs. Vollmer took the stage to award the Citizenship award. "She has always been a bit shy about her musical ability, but she has always been kind and compassionate to all band students, even the band director....I have no doubt that she will continue to do great things.  I can guarantee you this, the world is a happier place with her in it."  The award was given to Harmony W.

Mrs. Brissette announced the Salutatorian, Raeann C. who spoke to the crowd.  "I can't wait to see all the great things you will do in high school and beyond," stated Rae, "Remember to always stay true to yourselves, never give up on your dreams, and don't forget to have fun!"  Next was the announcement of Valedictorian, Heidi B. who shared her memories of having a connection to Lonedell since birth, as the third of three daughters to attend Lonedell.  "Thanks to my sisters, I was able to form many other teacher relationships and was deemed the favorite B girl among teachers before I was even in kindergarten!"  Heidi went on to speak about her middle school memories with friends and teachers, "...we are going to different high schools next year, and I know that everyone in this room may meet new friends, but the friendships made her will never be broken."  The remaining top 5 academic students were honored, including Kylie J., Del J., and Jessi T.

Each student was called and presented with their diploma then announced as official graduates to a cheering crowd and and flying mortar boards.  They left the stage to the Lonedell School Song played by the band.  Afterwards, attendees were treated to cupcakes and punch.

We are so proud of this group of young people and look forward to seeing them excel in the future.
